Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 pounds (about 4-6 slices) round steak
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
  • 2 (0.87-ounce) pouches onion gravy mix
  • 2 cups hot water
  • mashed potatoes, optional, to taste, cooked and hot, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter.

Step 2 -Add the steaks to the hot butter and sear them on both sides until golden, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 3 -In a pressure cooker on the sauté setting, melt the remaining butter.

Step 4 -Add the onions to the pressure cooker and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 5 -Add the garlic and cook, while stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 6 -Add the steaks to the pressure cooker.

Step 7 -In a small bowl, add the onion gravy mix and the hot water and stir to combine until the gravy mix dissolves entirely.

Step 8 -Pour the gravy mixture over the steaks and the onions.

Step 9 -Set the pressure cooker to the meat setting and cook on high pressure for 20 minutes.

Step 10 -Carefully release the steam, allowing it to release completely.

Step 11 -Serve the steaks over the mashed potatoes and top with the gravy.
