Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cups strawberries, hulled
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 (8-ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 -Use 1 tablespoon of the butter to grease a 2-quart baking dish.

Step 3 -In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the water, 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, and the cornstarch and bring to a low boil, stirring constantly.

Step 4 -Add the strawberries and the basil to the sugar mixture and stir to coat.

Step 5 -Pour the strawberry mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 6 -Cut 1 tablespoon of the butter into pieces and sprinkle them over the strawberry mixture.

Step 7 -Unroll the crescent roll dough, then cut it into uniform pieces.

Step 8 -Arrange the dough pieces on top of the strawberry mixture, adding as little or as much as desired.

Step 9 -In a microwave-safe dish, add the remaining butter and melt in the microwave, about 10 seconds.

Step 10 -Use a pastry brush to coat the dough pieces with the melted butter.

Step 11 -In a small bowl, add the remaining granulated sugar and the cinnamon and whisk to combine.

Step 12 -Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the dough pieces.

Step 13 -Bake the strawberry cobbler, about 20 minutes.

Step 14 - Cover the baking dish with foil and bake the strawberry cobbler until it is bubbly and golden, about 5 minutes.

Step 15 -Serve.
