Nutella® Fudge Milkshake

Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 2 servings

About

A milkshake is a dessert we've all agreed we can eat alongside dinner instead of waiting for it later. And if that's the case (and we think it is) then there's no reason not to go all out with it, right? Exactly! That's the spirit Nutella® Fudge Milkshake embodies... this is no ordinary milkshake. The shake itself is flavored with the lightly nutty and deep chocolatey smoothness of Nutella, with a touch of pretzel saltiness and a malted whipped cream on top! But the secret to this Nutella Fudge Milkshake is a homemade Nutella fudge, which is drizzled in the serving glass and served on top. Oh yes, the love you'll have for Nutella Fudge Milkshake will rival that of any cake or cookie!

Ingredients

  • For the Nutella fudge:
  • 1 ounce sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 8 ounces semisweet or dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • mini pretzels, optional, to taste
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream, plus more, to taste
  • For the malted whipped cream:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons malted milk powder
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, optional, seeds scraped
  • For the milkshake:
  • 1/4 cup mini pretzels
  • 3/4 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1/3 cup Nutella
  • 1/3 cup milk, plus more, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • marshmallows, optional, to taste, toasted, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.

Step 2 -In a heatproof bowl, add the condensed milk, 1 cup of the Nutella, and the chocolate chips and stir to combine.

Step 3 -Microwave the Nutella mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until it is melted and smooth.

Step 4 -Add the butter and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla extract to the Nutella mixture and stir to combine.

Step 5 -Reserve 1/3 of the Nutella fudge mixture.

Step 6 -Pour the remaining Nutella fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan.

Step 7 -Push the extra pretzels into the top of the Nutella fudge in the baking pan.

Step 8 -Cover the pan and chill it in the refrigerator until set, about 30 minutes.

Step 9 -In a clean, heatproof bowl, add the reserved Nutella fudge mixture and 1/4 cup of the heavy cream.

Step 10 -Melt the Nutella fudge-cream mixture in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals, until the mixture has the consistency of a pourable sauce. If it is too thick, add the extra heavy cream, a little at a time, until it reaches the desired consistency. Set the warm fudge sauce aside.

Step 11 -In a mixing bowl, add the remaining 1 cup of the heavy cream and using an electric mixer, beat until soft peaks form.

Step 12 -Add the malted milk powder and the vanilla bean seeds to the whipped cream and beat until combined.

Step 13 -In a blender, add the remaining 1/4 cup of the pretzels and blend until they become fine crumbs.

Step 14 -Add the ice cream, the remaining Nutella, 1/3 cup of the milk, and the remaining vanilla extract to the blender and blend until smooth. If the milkshake mixture is too thick, add the extra milk, a little at a time, until it reaches the desired consistency.

Step 15 -In two glasses, decoratively drizzle the warm fudge sauce.

Step 16 -Add the milkshake mixture evenly into the glasses.

Step 17 -Top each milkshake evenly with the malted whipped cream, a square of the Nutella-pretzel fudge, and a toasted marshmallow.

Step 18 -Serve.
